So it’s been a while. Apparently librarians all have blogs, and I happen to already have one, so perhaps I will keep this one up more, and write about librarian stuff. Also, while attending library school, I’m also auditing a class on book history and related issues at CUNY (“The Meaning of Media” with David Greetham), which I really couldn’t not do because it is so relevant to librarianing and it is really quite interesting and useful if only for the reading list.
So. SO. What have I been reading lately?
- Comanche Moon, Larry McMurtry (not school!)
- Organizing Information, Chowdhury
- About the AACR2, MARC, FRBR, all those acronyms
- The Story of Libraries, Fred Lerner, specifically the chapter on Muslim libraries
- This Book is Overdue! (not school, but about librarians, but unfortunately not as great as I’d hope)
- Essays about the history of the book in China, Italy, America
- An essay by Bernard Stiegler on Memory in Critical Terms for Media Studies, which was painful but enlightening
- Several librarian blogs, some of which are now added to my Google Reader.
Blogging, glasses, cats- I am halfway there already! Librarianship, here I come!
